Green Border Gravel starts on 5 September 2026 at 8:00.
Start and finish location will take in place in Olympic Center Novo mesto. The event will take place in South-Eastern Slovenia. -
Riders must rely only on publicly available resources such as shops, water points, cafés, and accommodation. Outside assistance from friends or teams is not allowed — it’s just you, your kit, and your decisions.

Expect roughly 300 km and ~7,000 m of climbing, with 70%+ unpaved surfaces — mostly forest roads and compact gravel, plus occasional rougher sections that reward solid handling and smart pacing.

Novo mesto is easy to reach by car, public transport or airport transfer. The route may feel remote once you are riding, but getting to the event base is simple.
What is the easiest way to get there?
The easiest option is by car, especially if you are travelling with a bike box or a full bike travel bag.
Approximate driving times:
Ljubljana → Novo mesto: around 45–60 min
Ljubljana Airport → Novo mesto: around 1h10–1h30
Zagreb Airport → Novo mesto: around 55 min–1h15Novo mesto is well connected by road and sits close to both Ljubljana and the Croatian border.
Which airport should I fly to?
The two most practical airport options are:
Ljubljana Airport — LJU
Best if you are flying directly into Slovenia. From the airport, you can rent a car, book a shuttle, or travel via Ljubljana.Zagreb Airport — ZAG
Also a very convenient option. Depending on flight connections, Zagreb can be just as practical as Ljubljana.Trieste, Venice and other nearby airports are also possible, but they usually mean a longer transfer.
Can I get there without a car?
Yes. From Ljubljana, Novo mesto is reachable by bus or train.
Bus from Ljubljana: around 1h–1h10
Train from Ljubljana: around 1h30–1h50The bus is usually the fastest public transport option, while the train can be a relaxed alternative. Please check current timetables before travelling.
What if I am travelling with a bike box?
If you are flying with a bike box or bike travel bag, we recommend renting a car or booking a shuttle/private transfer. When booking, always mention that you are travelling with a bike box so the driver can plan enough space.
During the race, each rider can store one small bag and one folded cardboard bike box. If you are travelling with a full bike travel bag or larger luggage, please select the bike bag storage add-on during registration.
